School District Awards Employee Bonuses Despite Weak Housing and Economy

From CRG St. Croix County:

"In an environment where school districts have had to lay off teachers, the Baldwin- Woodville School District in Baldwin Wisconsin awarded $500.00 bonuses to all full and part time employees. The Board of Education approved the bonus unanimously in a closed door board meeting. Despite a budget surplus taxpayers will not get a Christmas bonus."

School District Awards $500.00 Christmas Bonus to All Employees

CRG St. Croix County recently learned that all 200 full and part time employees of the Baldwin-Woodville School District (BWSD) received a $500.00 year end bonus for an expense to the district of $100,000. According to Jeff Campbell, President of the BWSD School Board, “...we would like to give them something for the hit they were taking and show appreciation and let them know they’re doing a good job.” The school board approved the bonuses unanimously in a closed session.

Leanne Rice of CRG St. Croix County said that even though student performance was virtually unchanged in most categories from 2009 to 2010 according to the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, the school district decided in a secret closed door meeting that the Baldwin-Woodville school district employees deserved a bonus.

CRG St. Croix County has filed documentation for an Exploratory Committee for Recall of one or several members of the BWSD.
